Starting from the year 2023, NMRS India has instituted Prof. G. Govil Memorial Lecture Award, to honour Prof. Govil, a towering personality who made pioneeing contributions to the field of magnetic resonance and was one of the persons resoponsible for the phenomenal growth of magnetic resonance activities across the country. The award shall be given annually to an outstnding Indian scientist working in any area of magnetic resonance for his/her life time contributions. The awaredee will be chosen by a committee, taking into the account the life time achievemetns of the scientist.
