  Prof. G. Govil Memorial Lecture Award   


Starting from the year 2023, NMRS India has instituted Prof. G. Govil Memorial Lecture Award to honour Prof. Govil, a towering personality who made pioneering contributions to the field of magnetic resonance and was one of the persons responsible for the phenomenal growth of magnetic resonance activities across the country.

The award would be given annually to an outstanding Indian scientist working in any area of magnetic resonance for his/her life time contributions. The awardee will be chosen by a committee, taking into the account the life time achievements of the scientist. In October 2024, the executive committee of NMRS framed guidelines of eligibility for this award, which is given below.

  • The nominee must be a Faculty/Scientist actively working at the level equivalent to Full Professor (or equivalent) in any Indian University or a Research Institute as of 31st December of the year of the award.

  • The nominee must be nominated by a Scientist/Faculty equivalent to Full Professor who is also a member of the NMRS of India.

  • Self-nominations are also accepted.

  • The nominee must be between 45-60 years of age as of 31st December of the year of the award.

  • The nominee must be an active researcher in magnetic resonance and its applications.

  • The major part of nominee’s research work should have been carried out in India.

  • The nominee must be a member of NMRS of India.
